Shadow Profile
Most, if not all, major social media platforms, online retailers, search engines and data aggregators create a “shadow profile” of anyone who interacts with their platform— even if they don’t have an account. They are large datasets that distill individuals into search queries and browsing habits; stacks of code that are a far cry from the people they represent. Here, I downloaded the complete dataset from my Facebook account and portrayed it for what it is: A highly distorted, imperfect, fragmented, two-dimensional simulacrum of me.
