Kodak EKTAR
My personal favourite. Boasts the world’s finest grain, allowing for exceptional sharpness and detail retention. Slightly contrasty, high saturation, especially sensitive to reds and blues. Best suited for bright, vibrant outdoor shoots with lots of colour.

Kodak PORTRA
Perhaps Kodak’s flagship film stock, engineered to render skin tones as realistically as possible. Low contrast with moderate saturation, opting for softer, pastel colour tones that can be easily enhanced with editing. Extremely versatile, suitable for virtually all lighting conditions.

Kodak GOLD
The classic film that all the best memories are captured with. Moderate contrast with slightly more pronounced grain than Ektar or Portra, with warm, saturated tones that captures the nostalgia of pleasant days gone by.

Cinestill 800T
Repackaged motion picture film with a slightly cooler, edgier cast. Medium-fine grain, with a characteristic glow around intense light sources. Extremely versatile; it’s my go-to for studio photography or darker shoots, and performs marvellously in virtually any setting.

Fujifilm VELVIA
When it comes to vibrant colours, if you asked any film to jump, Velvia would ask “How high?” Velvia is undoubtedly the highest-saturation film stock on the market— exceptionally smooth and sharp, with hardly any grain to speak of. Heavily favouring reds and blues with high contrast, it is high risk, high reward, demanding extremely precise exposures.

Ilford FP4
A strong candidate for my favourite black-and-white film. Silky smooth and sharp with moderate contrast, it can do an incredible job emulating the style of old family portraits if a light sepia cast is applied to it. Better suited for bright lighting conditions.

Rollei INFRARED

In regular use, Rollei Infrared is a beautifully sharp, medium-grained film with slightly higher contrast to give it some punch and character. The real magic of this film lies in filtering— with the right filter, it can render foliage ghostly white, or multiple exposures can be stacked to create ethereal, dreamlike colour images.
Kodak TMAX
A fine-grained, medium-contrast film with a classic, timeless quality. Highly versatile, and suitable for most lighting conditions.
